New Blog Design... Again
As you can see, I have a new blog design. I promise once I get something I like I'll stick with it. I just can never get down in blogger what I have in my head. Maybe one day I'll pay a professional (like her or her). They are super affordable! I just need to loosen up on the wallet a bit (hard to do with those Colombia tickets still burning their hole)!
He Loves Me
I keep forgetting to take a picture but Sunday night (after we bought the plane tickets) I was feeling a bit down about missing Christmas with my parents. Brandon came over to the house and I was cooking Lucas's favorite dinner, Chicken Carbonara. I realized I was out of our Egg Beaters and Lucas volunteered to go buy some (he'll do anything for this dinner, I swear). He and Brandon headed off to the grocery store and guess what he came back with? Roses! He's so sweet. Thank you, Lucas! I do love you even though you are taking me away from my parents on Christmas.

"I'll have a bluuuuue Christmas without yooouuu..."
The good news is that Lucas and I are finally going to visit his family in Colombia (no matter how much we had to pay for the tickets) but the bad news is that I'll be leaving my parents and family for the first Christmas EVER! I don't want to grow up and make grown up decisions!
As soon as we bought the tickets Lucas began his celebration. This will be his first Christmas with his family in a very long time. But I started balling... I mean hysterically! It was bad. Lucas was on the phone with his mom and I felt so bad for crying because I want them to know that I am exciting about spending Christmas with them but it is depressing to miss Christmas with my family. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I don't like changes to our traditions so it is going to be pretty rough. I know my mom is really upset about it.
But in the future, we'll have children and we'll stay here for Christmas. This will probably be our last chance to have Christmas with his family (as I am not willing to pay Santa's shipping and luggage fees on the way there and double on the way back). So, I'm sucking it up and doing my wifely duty. I do think I'll have fun and enjoy it but I'm hoping to make it through Christmas Day without hyperventilating.
Wish me luck! I will be preparing myself from now til then.
16 days in Colombia! Wow!
Camping on the Lake
We had a great weekend of camping. After a couple of unplanned detours and missed roads, we arrived at the campgrounds on Saturday morning only to be placed in a tiny quarter towered by huge RVs. Lucas was none to happy about it and (although I really hate when he isn't his most polite self to others... he would argue that he was nice but just voiced his opinion... whatever) we ended up on a prime lakeside spot. We were on the end and the spot next to us wasn't filled and we got to enjoy the beautiful scenes that Lake Guntersville had to offer.
We had a great time playing games, relaxing, and eating my the lake. Aida's dad bought her all sorts of camping equipment (including a portable grill) for her birthday so we ate very well! Saturday night we grilled burgers and homegrown corn (thanks dad) and Sunday morning we had bacon, eggs, and fire roasted sausage! Yumm! We were so full Saturday night we saved our smores as a last minute treat before we left. So good!
Here are a few shots from the weekend.

The Beach It Is Not....
but it sure is a great weekend getaway! Lake Guntersville will play host to Aida's birthday weekend. I'm so ready to wake up tomorrow and officially be on vacation (no matter how small it is and even if I have to sleep on the ground)!

Ahhh... there we are! Relaxing on floats in the pool. We certainly won't be getting in the river after THIS!
I'm sure there will be lots of pics on my weekend recap!

1st of the Month
..... And you know what that means! New Desktop!

I've been pretty upset about not getting a real beach vacation (or real vacation for that matter) this summer so to cheer myself up I thought I'd use fond memories of our 1st Anniversary trip last February to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands for this month's calendar.
Remember, get your free desktop calendar at Shabby Princess Scrapbooking!
