BREAKING NEWS

This is my baby sleeping....

T
his is my baby sleeping.... NOT in my house!

That's right. Lily Ann is spending her first night away from us tonight. **insert tears**

Her Grandma and Granddaddy watched her today while we went to Chattanooga for some touristy fun. I thought we would be back late so I decided (to quote my mother) 'make her dreams come true' by letting Lily stay the night with them. She has waited anxiously for this moment so even though we got back to town around 7, I am letting her stay.

We had dinner with the Rookie and Sara tonight and are about to go to sleep. So far, I've made it through the day/night without tears. Lucas is much more upbeat (either that or trying to keep me from a break down) and is charting this as a milestone of Lily's growth. :(

I miss my daughter!

To make matters worse, they are dog sitting Rafa. So I don't have my little puppy to distract me.

I miss you, Lily and Rafa!

P.S. Thank you, Grandma and Granddaddy, for keeping me updated with photos. It helps..... a little.

Thought for the day:

Is it sad that I'm a little relieved my daughter pooed on me instead of her bed so I don't have to wash and change her sheets? Plus, the husband feels sorry for me and takes care of the dirty diaper while I get to take a shower and go to bed nice and clean. Not too bad of a trade off. Kind of scary hearing myself say that.

No picture to accompany tonight's post. Trust me - it's for the best.

Her First Egg hunt.....

in which she didn't actually hunt any eggs, but still had a great time!

Lucas's work held an Easter Egg hunt for all the children of the employees. Unfortunately, rain postponed the event until the weekend following Easter. This was good news for us, because it meant his parents could join us for her first egg hunt! Well, we were too busy showing Lily off to actually partake in any of the hunting. But we carried her cute little basket around anyway!

A few pics of the beautiful day....

They were so happy to meet their first grand baby!
And brought lots of things for us from Colombia...

Including my favorite Colombian treat - panalitas...

And lots of cute goodies for Miss Lily Ann!

2 Month Check Up

Who knew a baby could be so happy at a doctor's visit?

Thanks to Daddy!

She got her little shots and handled them like a champ! Much better than her mommy, I'm afraid! We did find out she was a skinny mini (like really skinny... 3rd percentile in weight, 80th percentile in height) and have since been supplementing her with formula. I was really upset when we first found out but have managed to juggle nursing and supplementing pretty well so far. And Lily sure is growing faster than ever now!

Starting her early

Uh, oh....Somebody's been to Bourbon Street!

It all began with Lily's first road trip! Her abuelo and abuela were along for the ride.... napping in the early morning hours of the trip.

But someone got hungry and needed a little snack before we could make it to the rest stop...

With a full belly, we were ready to continue on our way...
Until we finally made it to LOUISIANA!

First Stop: Lunch/Dinner
Next Stop: Bourbon Street

Where Lily got her first (and hopefully LAST) set of beads....
Enjoying our stroll down Bourbon Street.....
Night time view of Canal Street from our hotel room:
We left Lily with her grandparents and went out for our first night out on the town alone since Lily was born. Bourbon Street was quite a way to get started!

We had a fantastic time listening to a great band at The Famous Door!

One Hurricane and a few hours later....
I was ready to go back to the hotel and see my baby girl!

The next day we walked down Canal Street to the riverside...

Lily went on her first boat ride in the muddy waters of the Mississippi...

We walked along the riverside towards the French Market...

Stopping for a feeding....
... and a little rest along the way.
We visited the church at Jackson Square...
... and ate, once again. Is that all we do? It's certainly all Lily does!
Then back to the hotel after a long, FUN day of sightseeing!
Let's go home!!!

Bourbon Street can wear a girl out!
