Saturday morning Lucas and I ran a little over 3 miles in preparation for our 10K on Monday. We haven't really been training for the run and decided we at least needed to get out a little before our run.
After running, I went over to my parents' and grandparents' house where I worked on yard sale stuff all day long. I was so tired by the end of the day and my back was killing me from lifting stuff and then sitting there folding and pricing. I got a lot but not all of it done.
Sunday I played some doubles in the morning. Everyone is wanting to hit to get ready for state. It is still good for me to get out and hit even though I probably won't be playing any doubles at state. Afterwards Lucas and I went to Hartselle for lunch and finished working on the yard sale stuff.
On the way back home we drove through Lake Forest to look for lots. There are some lots that are very expensive and some that are expensive but just over our highest limit. I'm hoping we can work a deal out and get a lot in Lake Forest that we can afford. I love it there. We are wanting to buy a lot and then in 5 or 6 years either sale it for a profit or build on it. If we buy a lot in Lake Forest we will definitely build on it. Our dream home in my dream community. It is so great! I hope we can afford something in there. Several lots we looked at were going for over $90,000! They weren't even great lots! Just regular old lots. Not lake side, lake view, or anything! Wow! That won't be the lot we are buying.
Anyway, Monday morning was the big race day! My goal was to finish under an hour. Lucas shared that goal until he actually started running and then he decided his goal would be around an hour ten minutes. We ran together for about the first half mile but then I left him. Sorry, honey! My goal was to just be under a 10 minute mile every time I passed a mile checkpoint. I was well on my way to reach my goal until I hit "the wall" or the giant hill that might as well be called a wall. This thing was unbelievable. One house lining the street had a radio blaring the Rocky theme song. Believe me... that helped! I ran the first half of the hill, then walked/ran/walked the rest. By the time I made it to the top I was almost out of energy and breathing pretty heavily but then the boy scouts were at the top of the hill with water. I drank half a cup then poured the rest over my head. Then I felt pretty good. Next was the run down Bankhead Parkway and going down hill felt pretty good. When I was less than a mile from the finish line I had a man run up beside me and tell me what a good pace I had set and he had stayed behind me the entire race. Then at the end he kept pushing me to run harder and keep it up all the way to the finish line. I am sure it is because of this man that I made my goal. So thanks, mister! I made my goal! 59:40!

And Lucas made his goal, too, even though I finished
11 minutes before him!

Here is our picture after the race. A good bit after
actually, right after would have been an awful picture!
We got home and rested a few minutes then went to Ditto
Landing for a Memorial Day picnic with Rafa. He loved
laying on the grass at Ditto and watching the boats go by.
We took a few pictures of our great afternoon along the
water.
After lunch, I went to play some more tennis to get
ready for state. This was probably not my best idea
ever. I couldn't move very much but it was good to
just be out. I need to used to those conditions
though. State can sometimes feel like running a 10K
then playing a 3 set match!
I am so sore today! Unbelievable! And we have
our first mixed doubles match tonight if it doesn't
get rained out. I hope I am able to move around
the court. We'll see!
to call a repairman to come out to the house. Great!
Can't wait to see that bill!
