On the Court til 10:00 at night

Last night was interesting that is for sure.

After my work event, I ran home to change clothes, picked up Rafa, and took him to watch Lucas play soccer for a little while before my 7:30 match. When I got home I noticed a special little gift from my parents to Rafa (they left it when they came to check on the dogs... thanks again for doing that). It is a little rolling travel crate for Rafa. It can roll like a suitcase, you can wear it as a backpack, or you can use it as a seatbelt for your dog. My camera was out of batteries (as I unfortunately found out at my work event at which I was going to take photos), so I'll have to take some good pictures this weekend and post them here for you to see. So cute! Thanks, mom and dad!

Lucas won his soccer game 2-0. He scored! He should've scored again. He had a really easy set up and messed it up. Oh, well. That is the 2nd game in a row in which he has scored. Good job, Lucas!

I had tennis at 7:30. This was the match to pretty much decide who wins 2nd place. Along with 2nd place could possibly go a wild card to state. My team is pretty intent on going to state even though, as I have previously stated, I really didn't think there was much chance of it. I played #1 doubles last night as I always do but guess who was playing #1 for their team...... Debbie, my good friend. I was not too happy about having to play her. For one thing, she has a tough game full of slices, drop shots, and lobs and she knows my strengths and weaknesses because we play together often. Another thing, the mental capacity that the match took was unbelievable. Debbie kept asking if we just wanted to double default so we wouldn't have to play each other in such a crucial match but that is not like either one of us to quick or walk away from a challenge.

Our match was quite possibly the longest match in the history of matches (okay, a little exaggeration). We had just started our 2nd set when everyone else had finished up. I realized that the team score was 2-2. The winner between Debbie and I would win the entire match. Our entire teams were on the sidelines watching and cheering. I had won the 1st set 7-5 but Debbie won the 2nd set 6-4. So all of this led up to a 3rd set tie-break. I ended up winning but it was bittersweet for many reasons.

  • I enjoy winning but it is dampened when I play a friend
  • Each of our teams were cheering us on and rooting us against each other (which in most cases is good and that is the point of cheering but it just felt awkward against such a good friend)
  • I didn't actually want my team to win because then I might be forced to choose between 4.0 and 4.5 state (which I will most likely have to now)
  • I won and my team was so excited because we now have a chance to go to state (something I was none too happy about)
There are pros and cons to going with the 4.0 or the 4.5 but I'm going to weigh those out when I know for sure that 4.0 is going. We have to get a wild card in order to go to state because only the top teams from each district automatically qualify for state. We should find out around the middle of the month.

So our match finished up at about 10:00 at night. Then I went home and had dinner. Wow! Long day.
